Katie Couric has ended her 5 year relationship with her much younger boyfriend, Brooks Perlin. The ABC news correspondent, who is 17 years older than Perlin, confirmed the news to People magazine. The split comes 7 months after Couric, 54, admitted to People that her relationship with Perlin, 37, was “complicated.”
"I'm in the process of figuring out the future, and so is he," she told People in May.
An insider says the split was “inevitable” and caused in part by the pair being “at different stages in their careers.”
Another source told Us Weekly magazine Perlin “just couldn’t keep up” with Couric. "Katie is someone who is incredibly versatile and accessible and in high demand and he just couldn't keep up. He had a little more trouble in the relationship. So she's available and back on the market,” the source dished.
Couric and Perlin met in 2006 at a fundraising event for cancer research. Couric began raising awareness for the disease after her husband, Jay Monahan, died of colon cancer in 1998. She has two daughters with Monahan, Ellie and Carrie.
