According to reports, the woman was pulled between the elevator and the shaft when her foot or leg got caught in the doors as they were closing. The elevator sudden began ascending, dragging the woman up two floors. The elevator then became stuck.
Two people were inside the elevator at the time of the accident and witnessed the woman’s death. They were not physically injured, but were taken to New York University Hospital for trauma.
