A former female employee of the Hanes Mall Dairy Queen says she was sexually harassed then fired for reporting the misconduct to her supervisors.
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is seeking a permanent injunction against YS&J Enterprises Inc. to prevent them from fostering a hostile working environment.
They are also suing to obtain back pay and monetary damages for Chastity Hill-Cox, the former employee. A sexual harassment lawyer has the greatest potential for obtaining a large settlement for the victims of harassment.
The lawsuit alleges that in 2009 a male cashier for the restaurant talked to Hill-Cox about his sex life and make sexually suggestive gestures. He would also use gender based expletives when he spoke to Hill-Cox.
When Hill-Cox told the manager of the restaurant about her co-workers behavior, the manager replied by telling her “to grow up” and that “boys and guys just act that way.”
Hill-Cox’s mother called the police about the harassment who went to the restaurant to investigate. After the police arrived Hill-Cox was fired because her manger told her she was causing trouble. Retaliation is a common reaction of employers and a legitimate reason to hire a sexual harassment attorney.
The attitude that a harassment victim should just take it because it is in a person’s nature is absurd. When one person makes a workplace hostile for another then they shouldn’t hesitate to call a sexual harassment lawyer to put an end to the abuse when their supervisors refuse to.
