Army Transport Helicopter Crashes in Pakistan, Up to 26 Security Personnel Feared Dead

An army transport helicopter carrying Pakistani security personnel crashed in the tribal region of Orakzai on Friday killing as many as 26 soldiers.

According to officials the MI-17 helicopter had been returning troops to Peshawar after spending time along the Afghan border. It is unclear what brought down the chopper but it is believed the pilot began experiencing technical difficulties when it crashed on the border of the Khyber and Orakzai tribal region.

Following the crash the soldiers were then involved in a shootout with Taliban insurgents in the area.
