Connecticut Man Awarded $10 Million for 2009 Segway Accident

A Bridgeport jury has awarded $10 million to man who suffered a brain injury after falling from a Segway.

The jury found that Segway Inc. and two men who worked for the company were responsible for John Ezzo’s brain injuries, which happened at a company demonstration in 2009. This is the sort of victory accident attorneys wish for their clients.

The Segway demonstration took place on the Southern Connecticut State University campus as a benefit for the Special Olympics. Ezzo agreed to participate in the fundraiser. Ezzo was put on a Segway blindfolded without a helmet and asked to go through an obstacle course set up by the employees. He fell off the Segway and injured his head.

The injury forced Ezzo to drop out of the University and he is now working as a handyman. Ezzo’s dream was to become a police officer, but his injury has prevented him from fulfilling that dream.
