Former NBA security official alleges the league ignored sexual harassment

A former security officer for the N.B.A. says he warned superiors that women in the office were being discriminated against and sexually harassed, but his complaints were ignored and he was ultimately fire for speaking out.

Warren Glover, 50, worked as a security director for the N.B.A. for 10 years but was fired in July, which he feels was a retaliation since he had glowing performance record. He is now suing the league for lost wages and damages.

Victims of sexual harassment are also eligible to damages when they retain a sexual harassment lawyer.

In the lawsuit, Glover said security officials created a “hostile work environment,” stating he was demeaned and denied promotions because he was vocal about the harassment he witnessed.

Glover says that in one instance he witnessed a senior security official sexually harass a female colleague and then demeaned her in public when she refused his advances. In another incident, another security official suggested using sexually inappropriate material in a presentation for NBA players.

Glover testified in a sexual harassment case against Bernard Tolbert, a former senior vice president for security, on behalf of his assistant. It was after his testimony that the retaliation began and he was eventually fired.

Sexual harassment attorneys are all too aware of how people can get entangled in office politics when they blow the whistle. The victims of harassment and the people who stand up for them don’t deserve to be punished for their actions. A sexual harassment lawyer gives them access to justice.
