Residential Alcohol Rehab

For individuals suffering with alcoholism, entering alcohol rehab programs are the only solution to sobriety. Although with the drastic increase in the alcoholism cases, there are over 40 million people that died due to the direct consequences of the alcohol addiction or due to the serious health hazards that occurred due to alcoholism such as organ failure, brain damage and more.

What do we mean by residential alcohol rehab?

There are two basic types of alcohol rehab programs – the in-patient and the out-patient program. The in-patient program is oftentimes referred to as residential alcohol rehab. In many cases, this program is the individual’s last option for getting the help they need to overcome their addiction and return to a clean and sober lifestyle. Unlike the out-patient program that allows the individual to return home in the evenings, the residential program requires that you move into the facility temporarily while undergoing treatment.

The primary benefits of a residential alcohol rehab program

For the individual that has been suffering with alcoholism for an extensive length of time, there are numerous benefits to getting treatment at a residential facility rather than undergoing out-patient treatment. The primary benefits include:

Around-the-clock care and supervision – the primary benefit here is that this program helps the individual to avoid relapsing once they return home as well as making them as comfortable as possible while they are undergoing treatment and recovery.

Forming a support network – both the clients and staff members provide the suffering alcoholic with a unique support network while they are in the residential rehab program. Fellow clients help to break down the walls of isolation that the alcoholic has built while staff members are always on call whenever the alcoholic is going through a difficult stretch.

Providing the alcoholic with a safe haven – in so many words, the residential alcohol rehab program provides the recovering alcoholic the opportunity to get away from their potentially harmful environment so they can totally focus on their recovery. Their home environment is oftentimes filled with negative influences and temptation that can result in the individual continuing to “feed” their cravings for alcohol.

While the out-patient rehab is good for those with mild to medium level of addiction which do not require 24/7 monitoring. However, detoxification stage is usually undergone as in-patient but after that the individual is allowed to attend the treatment therapies go back home in the evenings.
