Sarah Palin has announced her intentions to resign as Alaska’s governor at the end of the month and has no plans to seek re-election when the state holds its vote in 2010.
While Palin did not go into detail as to why she was resigning the former Republican vice-presidential candidate did announce that she was “taking my fight for what's right in a new direction.” That new direction could be a White House bid in 2012 as her popularity continues to grow within the Republican Party.
Palin, who will resign on July 26, will be replaced by Alaska’s Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell.
