Brandon’s decision to give up his immunity necklace to Albert landed him at Redemption Island for the final duel against longtime champion Ozzy. Sophie, Albert and Rick root for Brandon to win because they don’t want to have to beat Ozzy at individual immunity. Only Coach is okay with Ozzy re-entering the game because he previously approached him about going to the final two together.
For the duel, Ozzy and Brandon had to hold on to a pole for as long as possible. With only a 1/4 inch of wood on which to rest their feet, both Ozzy and Brandon didn’t stay comfortable for long. Ozzy moved around to stay comfortable while Brandon stayed in one position for as long as possible. Brandon eventually began sliding down his pole and could not get a good grip again. Ozzy won his last duel and re-entered the game.
Back at camp, Coach reassures Ozzy he is still on board with their final two plan. He even says he would consider using his immunity idol to keep Ozzy safe at the next tribal council. Meanwhile, the rest of the Upolu alliance remains strong in their plan to get Ozzy out. The first step is ensuring he does not win immunity.
For the immunity challenge, the castaways must build a house of cards on a balance beam while holding a handle to keep the beam level. Albert and Rick fall behind the others. Sophie quickly builds a sturdy structure, but she runs out of pieces and has to start over. Coach and Ozzy also build good structures, but between shaky hands and not enough pieces they both have to start over several times. Ozzy eventually finds a method that works and he wins individual immunity.
Ozzy’s win forced the tight knit Upolu alliance to turn on each other. Coach’s name was left out of talks on who to eliminate because everyone knows he has the immunity idol. Albert is on board with Sophie and Coach to get Rick out, but then Ozzy plants ideas in Albert’s head about sending Sophie packing. He argues that she will be a bigger threat than Rick, but Albert is thinking about jury votes. He believes if Rick is in the final three he will end up winning because he doesn’t have enemies on the jury.
At tribal council, Ozzy tries to create a rift in the Upolu alliance by spilling the beans about Coach’s final two deal. He then launches a personal attack on Sophie, calling her a spoiled brat. Sophie breaks down crying, but Ozzy refuses to back down. In the end, Ozzy’s attack wasn’t enough to break up Upolu. Rick was sent packing.
For the final immunity challenge, the castaways must gather five bags of puzzle pieces from an obstacle course. The first person to complete their puzzle wins immunity and is guaranteed a shot at the $1 million prize. Ozzy takes a big lead and is the first to get all five bags of puzzle pieces. Coach and Sophie are behind him. Albert is the last to get all his bags. Although Ozzy had a big lead, he loses it to Sophie during the puzzle. She made short work of the puzzle and won the final immunity.
Back at camp, Ozzy realizes he is probably on the chopping block so he tries to convince Coach to tie the vote between him and Albert. If the vote is tied, Ozzy and Albert will have to build fire as a tie-breaker. Coach struggles with whether he should honor his promises to his original alliance, or honor his promise to Ozzy to take him to the final two. He ends up staying true to Sophie and Albert. Ozzy is the final castaway to join the jury.
The jury questions are tough and are mostly aimed at Coach’s moves. Everyone seems bitter about who ended up in the final three until Edna reminded them that they signed up for a game that involves deceit and manipulation.
The final vote was between Sophie and Coach. Sophie was crowned the winner and took home the $1 million prize. "I had my finger on the pulse and tried to figure out people's motivations and work within the framework of the game.[Coach and fellow contestant Brandon Hantz] created this religious framework, an idea of being loyal and trustworthy and … [I] got to the end," Sophie said of her game strategy.
Sophie wasn’t the only one to go home with money – Ozzy won the $100,000 fan favorite prize.
