Gerard Butler was briefly hospitalized in northern California Sunday after a surfing accident. According to reports Butler was filming scenes for Of Men and Mavericks near Half Moon Bay when he was pulled underwater and held down by several strong waves. Rescuers pulled him from the water as he was being washed through a rocky area.
After his rescue Butler “had that 100-yard stare that surfers get after a two-wave hold-down or near-death experiences,” reports ESPN.
Although Butler was not injured, he was taken to Stanford University Medical Centre as a precaution. "He's fine. Very scary. For precaution, we all wanted him checked out after it all happened. Came out with flying colors,” the actor’s rep told Entertainment Tonight.
The location of Butler’s accident is where professional surfer Sion Milosky drowned in March.
