Steve McNair, Former Tennessee Titans Quarterback, Killed in Shooting

Steve McNair, a 13-year NFL veteran who played quarterback for the Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Ravens, was found shot to death on Saturday night in Nashville.

Police were responding to a shooting call and discovered the body of McNair, 36, as well as the body of an unidentified woman. McNair had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head.

McNair led the Titans to their only Super Bowl appearance in 2000 and was co-MVP in 2003 when he shared the honor with Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning. He retired in 2007 after two years with the Ravens.

Titans owner K.S. “Bud” Adams Jr. issued a statement following the news noting, “He was one of the finest players to play for our organization and one of the most beloved players by our fans. He played with unquestioned heart and leadership and led us to places that we had never reached, including our only Super Bowl. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family as they deal with his untimely passing.”
