Mark Cavendish took the second stage of the Tour de France on Sunday, finishing the 116-mile trek in 4 hours, 30 minutes and 2 seconds. Cavendish finished just ahead of Tyler Farrar and Romain Feillu to earn the stage.
While Cavendish took Stage 2 the overall lead remains in the possession of Fabian Cancellara of Switzerland, 18 seconds ahead of Alberto Contador and 19 seconds ahead of Bradley Wiggins. Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong is sitting in tenth place, 40 seconds behind Cancellara.
The Tour de France will pick up again on Monday as riders tackle the Stage 3 122-mile course from Marseille to La Grande Motte.
