Techstur introduces VMware View eXtender and Custom VMware View Portal. Both products add branding and functionality to the VMware View Portal without changing default files

Techstur.com, a software development company and design studio, announced the release of two products that work with the VMware View Portal. One is a free download and the other a complete customized solution, but both add corporate branding and functionality to the VMware View Portal.

VMware View eXtender
The VMware View eXtender is a free product that creates a Content Management System (CMS) for the VMware View Portal. It allows users to add a logo and favorite icon and change the background color, plus add and manage Announcements, Links, Company Support information and footer content. The eXtender Admin Panel provides easy control of all the VMware View eXtender’s functions.

Custom VMware View Portal
Unlike the VMware View eXtender, which is a free download, the Custom VMware View Portal provides a completely customized interface design, created from the client’s branding elements, that can be matched to a corporate website, intranet or any other branding source for a seamless fit. The settings can be exported to a Zip file for importing into other VMware View Portal Servers in the company’s environment.

“The Custom product is for clients that want more robust control over the look and feel of their VMware View Portal,” explains Jesse Boehm, Founder and President of Techstur.com.

“We use VMware’s built-in Apache Web Server to run the Custom Portal, and our Portal sits in front of the default VMware View Portal Interface,” Boehm says. “That means that the original VMware installation remains intact and supportable.”
