It’s far from over for Dominic Toretto and his racing gang. Vin Diesel has confirmed a seventh installment of the Fast and Furious series is in the works because their storyline for the upcoming sixth installment was too broad. Scripts for the sixth and seventh installments are being written simultaneously.
"With the success of this last one, and the inclusion of so many characters, and the broadening of scope, when we were sitting down to figure out what would fit into the real estate of number six, we didn't have enough space. We have to pay off this story, we have to service all of these character relationships, and when we started mapping all that out it just went beyond 110 pages,” Diesel told the Hollywood Reporter.
Diesel, 44, will return as Toretto along with other original cast members like Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez and Eva Mendes. Dwayne Johnson, who played Luke Hobbs in Fast Five, is also expected to return.
The Fast and Furious franchise has raked in $1.6 billion dollars worldwide since its debut in 2001.
