Days of heavy rains have devastated several provinces in northern Vietnam, causing mass flooding and landslides that have left at least 30 people dead and hundreds of thousands fleeing their homes for higher ground.
Officials have warned residents that the waters would likely continue to rise and have encouraged them to leave the area. The hardest hit province, Bac Kan, was where the majority of the casualties were reported as several homes had been completely swallowed by the flooding.
Southern China was also hammered by the rains as flooding and left as many as 20 dead and destroyed homes and buildings in several provinces.
