An Illinois man has been arrested after a Facebook picture of his 1-year-old daughter bound and gagged with painter’s tape went viral. Andre Curry, 21, faces aggravated domestic battery charges. He is being held in jail on $100,000 bail.
Authorities say Curry bound his daughter’s wrists and ankles and covered her mouth with tape after he found her playing with the tape. He posted the picture on Facebook along with the caption, “This is wut happens wen my baby hits me back.” The post was later removed.
The Chicago Police Department and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services launched an investigation into the incident after learning of the picture on December 14. According to Curry’s public defender, the felony domestic battery charges will be downgraded to a misdemeanor if prosecutors cannot prove the child was injured. The girl was being examined for injuries Thursday.
Curry’s next hearing has been set for December 27.
