Liposuction Voted Number One Procedure in 2011

As we wrap up 2011, its time to reflect on the best things of the year. This is true for movies, music and even cosmetic surgery.  Online magazine American Health and Beauty has announced that the winner of the Reader’s Choice Award is liposuction.

Liposuction has been growing in popularity since it was first developed in the 1970s. Over the past few decades, the technique has evolved and become safer and more effective. Innovative surgeons have developed new equipment that achieves better results than in the early days.

Not only are the results better, but because of these new tools and techniques recovery times are shorter and results more permanent.

In the past, plastic surgery was surrounded by stigma, but that stigma is lifting and it more socially acceptable than ever before. As it should be, liposuction is a procedure that gives a patient the opportunity to pinpoint the areas of their bodies that are too heavy. The expert hands of a cosmetic surgeon will gently suction out the unattractive fat, giving the body a sculpted and toned appearance.

Another growing trend in 2011 was fat transfers, where fat is removed through liposuction and then injected into regions of the body that need filling out. Fat can be transferred to areas on the face to give a more youthful look like the brow and eyes. If your buttocks or breast need a boost, fat from liposuction can also be transferred to those areas.

For 2012, liposuction will still be a popular procedure, and who knows it may eclipse other surgeries in popularity.
