In a message on his Facebook page, NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne backtracked on his recent breastfeeding remarks. Kahne took heat Tuesday after he Tweeted about seeing a woman breastfeeding her baby at a grocery store.
"Just walking though supermarket," he tweeted. "See a mom breast feeding little kid. Took second look because obviously I was seeing things. I wasn't!"
"One boob put away one boob hanging!! #nasty,” Kahne added.
When a follower named Deana P. questioned his comment, Kahne called her a “dumb b---.”
Although he acknowledges his Tweets were offensive to some followers, the 31-year-old stands by his opinion that the breastfeeding mom should have used more discretion when choosing where to feed her child.
"I understand that my comments regarding breastfeeding posted on Twitter were offensive to some people. For that, I apologize. It was in no way my intention to offend any mother who chooses to breastfeed her child, or, for that matter, anyone who supports breast feeding children,” Kahne’s Facebook message reads.
"My comments were not directed at the mother's right to breastfeed. They were just a reaction to the location of that choice, and the fashion in which it was executed on that occasion,” he wrote.
Kahne also admitted to being “out of line” when he responded to Deana P.
