Actor Chris O’Dowd popped the question to girlfriend Dawn Porter on Monday while vacationing in Guernsey Island. Porter, a British TV personality, told the Guernsey Press O’Dowd presented her with a “gorgeous” emerald ring.
“The ring is gorgeous -- an emerald, as he is Irish, and green to replace a green ring of my mum’s that I have worn on that hand since I was 16,” she said.
The couple also tweeted about their engagement on Thursday. "I'm so bored of all this happiness and sex. I'm getting married," O’Dowd wrote.
“I guess he liked it, coz he put a ring on it. #engaged,” Porter tweeted.
O’Dowd is perhaps best known for his role alongside Kristin Wiig in the 2011 comedy Bridesmaids. His other film credits include Dinner For Schmucks and Gulliver’s Travels. O’Dowd will appear again alongside Kristin Wiig in the upcoming comedy Friends with Kids.
