An introduction to sober living

Sober living facilities originated on the west coast of the US where they evolved from the traditional halfway houses that were geared to only recovering alcoholics or those individuals who were released from prison so that they could transition back into society. As drug abuse and addiction became more prevalent in this country as well as the serious public health threat that it became, there arose a need for different applications of the halfway house concept.

Today, there are hundreds of sober living facilities scattered throughout the US, most of which are providing their tenants a better opportunity for transitioning back into society while remaining substance-free in the process. The same holds true for sober living South Florida residences. You will literally find dozens of these facilities in all of the major cities of southern Florida today. The problem for the individual is finding the one that is going to best facilitate their personal needs.

About the Delray Recovery Center

Our addiction treatment and recovery center is located in the beautiful community of Delray Beach, Florida just north of the city of Boca Raton. We are conveniently located in a very quiet residential area of the city and do not look like the traditional addiction treatment and recovery facilities. Here you can continue to recover in a peaceful, serene setting while gaining confidence in your sobriety and learning a variety of relapse prevention techniques in the process.

Our on site sober living South Florida facility was designed for the individual who was beginning to transition from the Delray Recovery Center back into society but needed a little something extra to complete that transition. You are welcome to stay in our sober living facility as long as you like because we do not impose a time limit on our residents. This is because no two individuals are alike and every individual requires a different amount of time to complete the recovery process.

Basic requirements involved

The Delray Recovery Center has a few basic requirements involved and guidelines that must be followed before entering our sober living South Florida program and then once you are in residency here. First and foremost, you have to have completed an in-patient addiction treatment and recovery program before enrolling in our sober living facility. The following rules must always be adhered to while in residency here:

• there are no alcohol or drugs allowed on the premises at anytime
• you will be subjected to regular alcohol or drug testing
• attendance at weekly AA or NA meetings is mandatory
• you must be responsible and pay your monthly bills on time
• you may be required to pass the acceptance of our sober living South Florida peer group
