Aretha Franklin is ready to say ‘I Do’ again! The Queen of Soul has confirmed she is engaged to longtime friend William Wilkerson. This will be Franklin’s third marriage. Her first marriage to Ted White ended in 1969 after 9 years while her two-year marriage to actor Glynn Turman ended in 1984.
Franklin, 69, has wasted no time in starting to plan the wedding. She and Wilkerson are considering a summer ceremony in Miami Beach. "We're looking at June or July for our date,” the singer says.
As for the dress, a rep for Franklin says designers “Donna Karan, Valentino and the queen of wedding dresses, Vera Wang,” are all under consideration.
