South Carolina Serial Killer Victim Dies in Hospital 4 Days After Shooting

A 15-year-old girl who was shot by a man authorities have labeled a serial killer has died. South Carolina police say Abby Tyler died at 11:25 a.m. Saturday at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

She was shot last Tuesday at her family’s furniture and appliance store in Gaffney. Tyler’s father, 48-year-old Stephen Tyler, was also shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities released a sketch of the man they believe is responsible for the Tyler’s death and the deaths of three other people. See the sketch in the picture gallery below. The man, who has not been identified, may be driving a light gray or champagne color 1991 to 1994 two-door Ford Explorer.

“Let me say that under the FBI’s definition of a serial killer, yes, we have a serial killer,” says Sheriff Bill Blanton.

The shootings began last Saturday. The first victim, farmer Kline Cash, 63, was found dead by his wife in their home. Hazel Linder, 83, and her daughter Gena Parker, 50, were found bound and shot in Linder’s home.

It is unclear how authorities determined that the shootings were linked or how they got a description of the shooter.
