Three separate explosions rocked Kandahar province, Afghanistan Tuesday, leaving a total of 14 people dead and 32 others injured. All three bombs were detonated in Kandahar City.
The first explosion occurred near a police checkpoint and killed one police officer and four children. Authorities say the suicide bomber intended to hit the checkpoint directly, but his explosives detonated prematurely. The wounded totaled 16.
The second and third explosions happened Tuesday evening at one location. According to police, an improvised explosive device exploded first, but no one was killed or wounded. When police and locals gathered at the scene, a suicide bomber detonated his explosives. At least 9 people were killed and another 16 were injured.
