Russell Brand could net $20 million in divorce from Katy Perry

Last Friday, Russell Brand finally announced he would be divorcing Katy Perry after rumors of a split spread like wildfire over the internet. Reports that the couple was in trouble began a few weeks ago and reached a fevered pitch last week when the pair were caught on camera without their wedding rings and spent the holidays apart.

Brand filed for divorce last Friday citing irreconcilable differences. Despite having earlier denied the rumors.

Now, other reports indicate that Brand stands to gain $20 million when he finalizes his divorce from Perry. The Chicago Tribune reported that the couple did not enlist a divorce lawyer to draft a pre-nuptial agreement before they married 14 months ago.

The couple married in a Hindu ceremony, which has sparked some criticism from Hindu leaders who state the couple should have taken those vows more seriously.

And under California law he may be entitled to half of her fortune. Katy is worth an estimated $44 million, though Brand himself has an estimated worth of $15 million.

When a couple with many assets decides to end their marriage, it is in their best interests to employ a divorce attorney. They can the couple negotiate for favorable outcomes in any type of divorce proceeding.

Every couple must have an ally who will protect their rights and an experienced divorce attorney will be this ally. Their help will be instrumental to protecting your assets and rights as a parent if you have children.
