Before drugs, Ramsy Darwish had a good life. Brought up in a family that gave him a lot of opportunity, Ramsy was skilled at martial arts and skateboarding – something that completely changed when he started smoking marijuana at an early age. A few years later, a car accident introduced him to prescription pain medication, to which he soon became addicted, ending with Ramsy becoming a hard-core prescription pain killer addict and winding up in drug rehab.
Ramsy recently appeared on CNN News with anchor Rick Sanchez sharing his true story of recovery with millions. The story entitled, “America's "Other" Drug Problem Prescription Medication Abuse” went over the dangers of prescription drug addiction and how prescription medications are the most commonly abused drugs in the United States next to alcohol.
The story also touched on the great loss our country has experienced most recently with the death of Michael Jackson, an alleged prescription drug addiction for many years, and focused on the fact that recovery from prescription drug addiction is possible with drug rehab.
Recovery through effective drug rehab is something that Ramsy Darwish experienced first-hand when his parents stepped in and sent him to the Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program several years ago.
When Ramsy was first faced with an ultimatum from his family, like most addicts, he was scared. But after a few weeks in treatment Ramsy began to realize that he could be happy without drugs – that the drug rehab program he was in was going to help him. According to Darwish the Narconon program gave him the ability to be in control of his life again and confront his problems. He thought because he had become a drug addict, his life was over but through Narconon drug rehab treatment he realized that it wasn’t and that he had many opportunities ahead of him.
The Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program is currently one of the most successful drug rehab programs in the country achieving an over 70% success rate for permanent recovery from addiction. Narconon operates more than 120 centers in 44 countries and has been helping addicts successfully recover from addiction since 1966.
Today Ramsy works as the Director of Intake at Narconon Freedom Center in Albion, Michigan. The Narconon program in Michigan has been in operation for more than 7 years and has helped thousands of people successfully get off drugs.
Ramsy Darwish knows he recovered from his addiction because of successful drug rehab. His advice today to others struggling with substance abuse issues is to know that there is hope and that your life isn’t over and no matter how severe your addiction is, people can and do recover completely every day.
