The Dallas Mavericks resigned All-Star point guard Jason Kidd to a three-year deal on Monday.
The contract is worth $25 million, which is a short drop in salary for Kidd, who has been one of the NBA’s highest-paid players for years. Last season, Kidd earned $21.37 million.
"We are excited to have Jason Kidd back in a Mavs' uniform," Mavericks owner Mark Cuban told The Dallas Morning News. "He was a major contributor for us last year, and we expect more of the same next year."

The Knicks wanted to add a high-profile player at a low cost to attract and afford LeBron James next summer when the Cleveland Cavaliers star enters free agency.
Wednesday is the first day teams can formally sign free agents to new contracts after the NBA announces the salary cap and luxury tax figures for the 2009-10 season.
