Sexual harassment Victims Angry with South Bend Housing Authority Board

Alleged sexual harassment victims are angry with the South Bend Housing Authority Board after they voted to not suspend Marva Leonard-Dent as the Executive Director.

Leonard-Dent was accused of sexually harassing by Lt. Marcus Wright of the South Bend Police Department and Archie Robinson, an employee for the Housing authority. Two other women also accused two male employees of the Housing authority of sexual harassment.

They are angered that the Board did not suspend Leonard-Dent while the allegations are being investigated. A lawyer representing three of the employees in a lawsuit said that Leonard-Dent should be suspended so that the environment at the Housing Authority is not poisoned.

In addition to calling for Leonard-Dent’s suspension, the employees are calling for a better system of reporting sexual harassment and a better training program.

Despite the fact that most employers include training for their employees, sexual harassment is a common issue in the workplace. Even though many of these instances are reported, supervisors fail to address the problem and the victims feel like their only recourse is to retain sexual harassment attorneys.

The housing authority employees are seeking millions in damages. When a sexual harassment lawyer is able to prove the prevalence of harassment their clients may be eligible for significant compensation for the emotional duress this behavior causes.

Hostility in the workplace is detrimental to all employees not just the people being harassed and the primary objective of a sexual harassment attorney is to end this hostility.
