An Indiana State Trooper was lucky to avoid injury on Sunday afternoon when a tractor trailer carrying over a dozen Mercedes Benzes crashed into her patrol car, according to a press release from the Indiana State Police.
Trooper Vicki Maxwell was parked on a roadside assisting a motorist around 2pm when the tractor trailer side-swiped her vehicle taking a large portion of the driver side door with it.
Maxwell’s patrol car was fully marked with flashing emergency lights on. Witnesses say that the tractor trailer driver failed to pull out of the far right lane even though there were no cars in the way, preventing her from doing so.
Trooper Maxwell was taken to a local hospital where she was treated and released.
The driver of the tractor trailer, Autumn Eberlin, 40, was cited for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
