Knoxville Police find cocaine and cash in car involved in fatal accident

Police said they found crack cocaine and over $3,000 cash inside the car of a man who was fatally injured after he crashed into traffic light pole.

The accident occurred Monday night on Middlebrook Pike and the driver was apparently leaving the scene of a domestic violence investigation.

Knoxville police say the driver of the vehicle, Deshaun O’Keefe, 20, was traveling “in excess of 100 miles per hour” when he slammed into the pole at the intersection of Middlebrook and Sutherland Ave. He died on the scene.

When police searched O’Keefe’s car they found crack cocaine and $3,900 in cash.

Police say the incident started moments before the accident when they were approached by a woman with a bloody face claiming she was abused and pointed out O’Keefe as he was driving by. Police began a pursuit and were getting close to catching up when O’Keefe collided with the pole.

No other individuals were involved in this accident, but high speed pursuits can end with injury to other drivers. Accidents are one of the risks we take when we drive, but when injuries or property damage is caused by another driver’s carelessness an accident attorney will fight to obtain compensation for the victim.

Accident attorneys have extensive experience which is beneficial to victims of these tragedies. When you have an accident lawyer fighting by your side you can rest knowing they will get a favorable settlement from the parties responsible for your injuries.
