The state of Florida has been hit hard with foreclosure and
desperate homeowners are vulnerable to scams. Florida’s Attorney General Pam
Bondi sued two companies for preying on people and defrauding who are facing
foreclosure.
MGD Management and CRS Marketing offered “strategic default”
services, to their clients claiming they could live in their without paying
their mortgage, taxes or association dues for three years. The two firms also
stated that the fees they were paid covered all legal services aside from
bankruptcy.
But the Attorney General’s lawsuit alleges these two
companies did not actually provide any legal services and numerous homes were
seized. These firms also insisted their clients ignore communications from
mortgage servicers unless they came through certified mail. A credible foreclosure attorney won’t take a
person’s money without actually applying their legal expertise to help the
troubled homeowner.
AG Bondi also has injunction against the two firms
forbidding them from advertising or marketing or continuing to provide their
services. Their assets have also been frozen.
People who are facing foreclosure are susceptible to frauds.
These two companies capitalized on their desperation. Troubled homeowners seeking
out a foreclosure lawyer should
check their credentials and ask for personal references. Dealing with the
foreclosure is stressful enough without having to worry about being taken
advantage of.
A foreclosure
attorney can help with the different aspects of foreclosure and let the
homeowner stay in their cherished home.
