The driver involved in an accident Tuesday night that resulted in two injuries and caused a car to split in half has been charged with driving under the influence and running a red light.
Police say that Michael Keegan, 55, was drunk when he ran a red-light on Daniel Webster Highway at the corner of Industrial Ave.
A CRV, driven by Teresa Rodriguez, 39, was turning left off of Route 3 onto Industrial Ave. when Keegan struck her vehicle with such force that it was split in half. The back half of the CRV traveled 200 feet off the roadway before coming to a rest.
That area of Daniel Webster Highway had to be closed for an hour while crews cleared up the scene.
Rodriguez was able to get out of her car unassisted. Keegan however had to be extricated. Both were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police charged Keegan with driving under the influence after he showed signs of impairment. An accident lawyer will be able to definitively prove that this driver was negligent.
Given the force of impact, this accident could have resulted in more serious injuries. Though the injuries were not life threatening the victims will still face some expensive medical bills and property replacement costs. An accident attorney will make certain these costs don’t come out the victim’s pockets.
When you are injured take a proactive approach and hire an accident lawyer to be your advocate in court.
