Massachusetts man seriously injured in truck accident

A 61 year-old man was seriously injured Thursday when his passenger car was rear-ended by tractor-trailer.

Police say that Donald Sacco was turning right into a driveway on Route 20 in Charlton when he was hit in the rear by a Freightliner truck.

Sacco was airlifted to UMass-Worcester with serious injuries but he is expected to survive. Images of the accident show Sacco’s passenger vehicle crushed with the roof caved in at the middle.

The driver of the truck Henry Fontaine, 53, of Webster was charged with following too closely and failure to use care when stopping.

A tractor trailer is a very heavy vehicle, stopping these vehicles will take longer than a passenger vehicle, which is why it is so important that drivers pay close attention. If a driver was distracted at the time of an accident, a truck accident attorney will strive to show that their negligence caused injury or property damage.

Oftentimes, the people injured in a truck accident will suffer severe injuries. Sometimes these injuries can affect the rest of a person’s life. They may become disabled. They may never be able to work again. There medical bills will pile up, but a truck accident lawyer can offer some relief from overwhelming debt by seeking damages. A truck accident attorney has all the necessary qualifications and knowledge to assure their client will receive the maximum compensation they are allowed.
