PPL Motor Homes, an RV consignment dealer, is excited to announce that for the second year they have reached great success by collecting 1189 teddy bears for their Cuddles for Kids program. The teddy bears will be given to children who have witnessed an accident or crime scene.
PPL teamed with the Huston Police and Clergy Team (PACT) to make the drive possible. Local officers will carry the collected teddy bears in the trunk of their patrol cars so they can hand the bears to children on the spot.
“These bears are very comforting to a small, frightened child who may have just seen a parent being taken away on a stretcher or in handcuffs,” said Diana LeBlanc, a PPL employee who helped organize the drive. “In many cases these bears become that child’s best friend.”
The event started out as a small Christmas event and has grown into a huge community awareness program. This year, the Houston Police and Clergy Team, local scout groups, students and community members all came together at the PPL headquarters to count the bears and put them in the special PACT motor home. PPL is also excited to announce that there are more than 50 bears that have already been collected for the 2012 drive.
“All of us at PPL Motor Homes would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers, community and friends for making this year's "Cuddles For Kids" event such a great success,” LeBlanc said. “Please keep collecting bears for next year when we plan to break the record set this year.”
