Maryland girl in critical condition after traffic accident

A Monday night accident involving a mini-van and a passenger truck resulted caused critical injuries to a 12 year-old girl.

Police say that the initial investigation showed that a Chevy pickup, driven by Kurt Fisher was traveling southbound on Bestgate Road approaching the traffic light on Route 50.

The traffic signal was turning green to yellow.

At that point the mini-van, driven by Jill Shores pulled into the intersection through the red light into the path of the Chevy truck. The truck clammed into the passenger side of the van where the girl was seated. The impact caused the two vehicles to spin around and come to a rest on the shoulder.

The 12 year old girl was taken to an area hospital and is listed in critical condition. She sustained a head injury.

Police have stated that no alcohol or drugs were involved in either driver’s part. They did attribute the accident to driver’s error on Shore’s part.
