An Iranian nuclear scientist was assassinated Wednesday morning as he drove through a Tehran neighborhood. The IRNA news agency reports 32-year-old Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan, who was a Sanati Sharif University professor and the deputy director for commercial affairs at the Natanz uranium enrichment facility in Isfahan province, died when a bomb attached to his car exploded. Two other people inside the car were wounded.
Witnesses say the bomb was planted on the vehicle by someone on a motorcycle. “This bomb was a magnetic bomb and similar to those that they have used to assassinate scientists in the past," said Safarali Baratlu, the head of Tehran's Security Council.
Baratlu accused Israel of being behind the attack. Israeli officials have not commented.
