Vet files sexual harassment lawsuit against Louisville Metro Animal Services

A former employee has filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Louisville Metro Animal Services and former director Gilles Meloche, alleging that Meloche repeatedly harassed her and that the city did nothing to stop him.

Dr. Kendall Clay, a licensed veterinarian, said in her lawsuit that Meloche touched her inappropriately and sent her numerous sexually suggestive phone messages. When Clay played the messages for Wayne Zelinsky, second in command at the time and named in the lawsuit offered her no solution to the problem.

Clay also claims that after she complained about the harassment, Meloche informed her that he was a high-ranking official and well-liked by the mayor, suggesting that nothing could be done.

The lawsuit filed in Jefferson County also alleges other illegal activity on behalf of Meloche.

Before an employee can hire a sexual harassment attorney they must first report the harassment to their supervisors. Many of the people harassed find that reporting the harassment does not always end the problem and leave the job instead of putting on up with misconduct.

Clay’s lawsuit comes one year after another sexual harassment lawsuit against Meloche was settled for $278,000.

A sexual harassment lawyer will protect the interests of their clients when their employers have failed. Harassment victims are often fired as an act of retaliation and a sexual harassment lawyer will make certain they are justly compensated for the lost wages and hostility they endured.
