Clippers Down Heat in Overtime Thriller

The Los Angeles Clippers are quickly building a resume as more than a high flying circus act. The addition of Chris Paul during the short offseason let many fans know that the Clippers would provide plenty of highlights, but last night’s 95-89 overtime victory over the Miami Heat told casual fans that the team means business.

Paul accounted for 27 points and 11 assists in the win, but teammate Blake Griffin, who added 20 points and 12 rebounds, said that the franchise was not satisfied with this win alone. “It’s just another win…It’s about winning these games and winning the so-called smaller games” said Griffin.

LeBron James scored 23 points for the Heat with help from Mario Chalmers, 18, Dwyane Wade, 17, and Chris Bosh, 16. The effort wasn’t enough and the big three struggled in the fourth quarter going 3 of 8 shooting with only one additional basket made by another member of the team. Overtime did not treat them much better where the team as a whole was 1 for 10.

It was the Clippers first home win against Miami since the 2001 season.
