Annual Meeting of South Carolina Green Building Council Hosted by Southland Log Homes

The designer and manufacturer of green, energy efficient log homes hosted the annual meeting of the Council to review the year’s success, discuss future plans, and discuss the green and sustainable qualities of log home designs

Southland Log Homes, the designer and manufacturer of quality log homes, outlines the South Carolina Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC SC) annual meeting they recently hosted. It was held at the company’s headquarters, located in Columbia South Carolina, where a wide range of items were discussed and changes were made in the organization.

The meeting began with the USGBC SC offering their thanks to the Board members that were leaving and welcoming the new members that were to replace them. The members that were leaving had made some contributions to the organization’s efforts, and they were duly recognized.

Following these changes, the meeting moved to an “open house” tour of some of Southland’s log home models and the administration building. The key focus of the discussion also moved to the green and sustainable qualities of the log home materials and designs.

“We are pleased to partner with the USGBC SC in providing a venue for their annual meeting”, said Ken Sekley, the CEO and president of Southland Log Homes. “This association helps us to highlight the sustainable qualities of Southland Log Homes, and the role Southland log structures can play in providing a green building alternative. We look forward to further opportunities to partner with the USGBC SC.”

Southland Log Homes, Inc, is the industry leader in the log home and floor plan industry, and has a strong focus on sustainable building practices. The company works to provide its customers with custom log home designs and high-quality materials, and also offers assistance with land acquisition and financing.

“At our annual meeting, the USGBC SC looked back on a productive 2011 and looked forward to an exciting 2012,” said Melissa Le Roy, executive director of USGBC SC.  And we very much enjoyed holding our meeting at Southland. The natural beauty of their log buildings provided a great venue for our organization.”
