Stevie Wonder, Mariah Carey to Perform at Michael Jackson Memorial at Staples Center

Stevie Wonder and Mariah Carey are set to take the stage during the public memorial and tribute for Michael Jackson on Tuesday.

The public memorial will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles at 10 a.m. PT (1 p.m. ET). 1.6 million fans requested attendance at the memorial, but only 8,750 people were invited.

Wonder and Carey will be joined by Usher, John Mayer and Jennifer Hudson as they embark on the tribute for Jackson’s life.

Beyonce’ Knowles and Whitney Houston will reportedly be in attendance, but will not perform, according to Entertainment Tonight. Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Smokey Robinson, Lionel Richie, Brooke Shields, Berry Gordy, and Martin Luther King III will also be in attendance at the memorial.

Debbie Rowe, Jackson’s ex-wife and mother to his two children, was expected to attend, but backed out Monday. "The onslaught of media attention has made it clear her attendance would be an unnecessary distraction," her attorney Marta Almli said in a statement.

In addition, longtime friend Elizabeth Taylor will not be in attendance. "I've been asked to speak at the Staples Center," Taylor wrote on her Twitter page. "I cannot be part of the public whoopla. And I cannot guarantee that I would be coherent to say a word."

Rev. Al Sharpton will deliver the eulogy, according to NBC News.
