Obama aides owe back taxes

President Obama is visiting different states to push his Buffet tax and asserting that people need to pay their fair share of taxes. Meanwhile 36 of his aides owe back taxes and other government employees are dodging their taxes. .

The IRS released the Federal Employee and Retiree Delinquency Inventory which showed that Obama’s aides owe $833,970 in back taxes.

But Obama’s aides aren’t the only government employees that are delinquent on their taxes. At the EPA 419 employees owe roughly $19 million in back taxes. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp, which is supposed to assure the public’s faith in the financial system, has some 185 employees, who are behind on their taxes, owing $3 million.

This is just a small example of the 10,000 federal employees, who are behind on their taxes.

If you are not a government employee you will need a tax attorney to help you with the IRS’s collection efforts. The IRS can garnish a person’s wages and even go so far as to seize property to meet tax obligations.

A tax lawyer can help people negotiate with the IRS if they are unable to pay when taxes are due. They can also work to reduce your penalties.

Not paying your taxes can eventually result in criminal charges if you don’t address the problem early. This can lead to incarceration and inflated fines.  Enlisting a tax attorney immediately can help you avoid some headaches down the road.
