Applied Materials, Inc. today announced that Gary Fazzino has joined as vice president, Government Affairs, responsible for Applied’s global government relations programs. Fazzino joins Applied from the Hewlett-Packard Company where he served as vice president of government and public affairs and will be located at Applied’s Santa Clara, California headquarters. “Energy and the environment are top policy priorities for governments around the world, and Applied Materials' technology — from semiconductors to displays to solar — will be an important part of the solution," said Mike Splinter, Chairman and CEO of Applied Materials. "Expanding relationships and engaging in dialogue with government are important to the long-term success of Applied Materials, and Gary's proven ability to help shape public policy will be invaluable as we explore new markets and new lines of business.”

Applied Materials, Inc. designs, manufactures, and sells semiconductor fabrication equipment worldwide. The company?s Silicon segment provides a range of manufacturing equipment used to fabricate semiconductor chips or integrated circuits.
