SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) - Technology stocks were having a hard time holding onto gains in early trading Friday as Yahoo Inc. received an analyst upgrade and the sector prepared for a slate of earnings next week from the likes of IBM Corp., Google Inc. and Intel Corp.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index /quotes/comstock/10y!i:comp (COMP 1,756, +3.03, +0.17%) was up just 1 point at 1,754, while the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index /quotes/comstock/10y!i:sox (SOX 259.61, +1.62, +0.63%) and the Morgan Stanley High Tech 35 Index /quotes/comstock/10t!msh.x (MSH 435.69, +1.71, +0.39%) edged into positive territory.
