After a busy quarter of capital raises and government repayments, investors are likely to face the proverbial fork in the road to recovery next week, as earnings from banks and brokers will help split the haves from the have-nots. Indeed, one was hard pressed to find many decliners in the banking stock universe last quarter. TheS&P Financial sector benchmark exchange-traded fund, Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF 11.10, -0.15, -1.33%) , surged more than 36% as the end of March, its largest three-month increase since its inception by almost a factor of two.
