World Surveillance Group, Inc. (WSGI) Subsidiary Achieves Strong Increase in Q1 2012 Sales

QualityStocks would like to highlight World Surveillance Group, Inc.(OTCBB: WSGI). The company is developing unique lighter-than-air unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which when integrated with electronics systems and other high technology payloads have broad applications for low-, mid- and high-altitude intelligence, reconnaissance and communications missions.  With an experienced team in place, WSGI is working with strategic partners to commercialize, test and demonstrate its low cost, non-rigid, segmented, easily deployable airships so as to capture a portion of the $62 billion US military market for UAVs over the next five years and the government and commercial markets for border control, drug interdiction, disaster relief, intelligence gathering, and other commercial applications.

In the company’s news yesterday,

World Surveillance Group announced that wholly owned subsidiary Global Telesat Corp. (GTC) achieved significantly higher first-quarter sales of its mobile satellite solutions (MSS), representing GTC’s best quarter since its acquisition by WSGI. The company partially attributes the increase to the recent launch of its e-commerce MSS Web site, www.gtc-usa.com.

GTC provides mobile voice and data communications services globally via satellite to the U.S. government, defense industry, and commercial users. During the first quarter of 2012, the company provided various MMS, including specialized satellite tracking devices and messaging services for use in Afghanistan; satellite phones during the uprisings in the Middle East; and satellite broadband airtime to enable wounded servicemen to send blogs, photographs, and e-mails during a two-month charitable fundraising trek to the base camp at Mt. Everest.

WSGI also noted GTC’s growing industry recognition and inquiries from defense and defense-related companies seeking samples, demonstrations and technical information on the company’s proprietary tracking devices, mapping software, and satellite ground station capabilities.

“One of our goals was to start the year strong by executing on opportunities available to each of our businesses. We are currently receiving positive feedback from government and commercial customers interested in both GTC’s products and our line of airships. We intend to build on the momentum we have generated in the first quarter to close more business and strengthen our company during the rest of the year,” WSGI president and CEO Glenn D. Estrella stated in the press release.

WSGI attributes the increased interest to GTC’s strategy of diversifying its satellite business operations. GTC said it plans to continue to increase its products and solutions offerings; establish additional global reseller agreements; and aggressively marketing its full product suite of customized tracking devices, satellite communications equipment, and other MSS products.
