QualityStocks would like to highlight TurboSonic Technologies (OTCBB: TSTA). The company designs and markets air pollution control technologies to industrial customers worldwide. Its products help companies in the Cement and Mineral Processing, Ethanol & Biofuels, Metals & Mining, Petrochemicals, Power Generation, Pulp & Paper, Waste Incineration, and Wood Products industries meet the strictest emissions regulations, improve performance, and reduce operating costs.
In the company’s news last week,
TurboSonic Technologies announced that the latest installation of its Catalytic Gas Treatment™ (CGT) technology was tested and confirmed as compliant with U.S. EPA air pollution control regulations for the Plywood and Composite Wood Products Industry.
Edward Spink, TurboSonic CEO, said the testing and confirmation symbolizes advancements in recognition and industry acceptance of its technology.
“This is an exciting milestone in our strategic plan aimed at industry requirements for compliance with air pollution control regulations, while capitalizing on technologies offering additional economic advantages,” Spink stated in the press release. “We see this as the next step forward in wider acceptance of CGT technology. Due to the similarity of this particleboard process and emissions to the oriented strand board (OSB) process, we believe this will lead to the successful introduction of CGT into the large OSB market.”
The installation consisted of treating the combined exhaust gases from a particleboard press and dryer to reduce VOC (formaldehyde and methanol) emissions, and marks the third installation at Arauco-USA’s North Carolina wood panel production facility. The previous installations also were tested and determined to be in compliance.
CGT technology was selected as an alternative to thermal oxidation, which is the traditional solution for VOC emissions control. CGT differs from other technologies in that it eliminates the combustion of non-renewable natural gas, which produces greenhouse gas emissions of CO2, nitrogen oxides (NOx), and methane.
