United Airlines flight attendants are seeking federal mediation regarding new contract.

Federal mediation is being sought by the union that represents United Airlines flight attendants. This is the next step in attempts to secure a new contract.
Early negotiations are being sought in the interest of speeding up the finalizing of a new contract. Steps leading to these negotiations began (in part) during the company bankruptcy where flight attendants were instructed they needed to take large wage and benefit cuts.
These are not new negotiations, having begun in 1996, said The Association of Flight Attendants.
Shares were up 31cents to $6.16 midday.
