Exide Technologies makes an announcement have reached $34.3 million in federal stimulus funding and the company adds 200 manufacturing jobs for new production line on Columbus, Ga.

The grant supports the domestic production of affordable lead-acid batteries incorporating advanced carbon technology. Atlanta-based Exide will make advanced AGM flat plate batteries at its existing Columbus location, which will be expanded for a new manufacturing line. The fuel-saving batteries have industrial and transportation applications.
