Mantra Venture Group (OTCBB: MVTG) $0.29. Announced Monsay after market close that it has been invited by the BC Ministry of Economic Development to participate in The Environment Energy Tech Trade Show (ENTECH 2009) to be held in Busan, Korea from September 16th-19th, 2009. ENTECH is Korea's largest trade show focused on energy and environment, with over 500 booths and 34,000 visitors anticipated for this year's event.

 

What They Do: Mantra, through its group of sustainable energy, carbon reduction and consumer product subsidiaries, is active in the green technology marketplace with an innovative, multi-faceted approach focused on profitability through sustainability. Weyerhaeuser Company (NYSE: WY) $34.75. Announced Monday after market close the completion of the sale of its Commercial business to a wholly-owned subsidiary of Atlas Holdings LLC. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

 

The transaction includes four manufacturing plants focused on the commercial construction market (located in Chino, Calif.; Hillsboro, Ore.; Delaware, Ohio and Stayton, Ore.) and 13 sales and engineering offices. About 230 employees will transfer from Weyerhaeuser to Atlas as a result of the transaction.



What They Do: Weyerhaeuser Company, one of the world's largest forest products companies, was incorporated in 1900. In 2008, sales were $8 billion. It has offices or operations in 10 countries, with customers worldwide.

 

Trina Solar Limited. (NYSE: TSL) $26.41. Announced Monday after market close its financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2009. Solar module shipments were approximately 64 MW, representing an increase of 30.9% sequentially and 34.3% year-over-year. Total net revenues were $150.0 million, representing an increase of 13.5% sequentially and a decrease of 26.5% year-over-year. Net income was $18.9 million, which included a foreign currency exchange gain of $13.7 million, compared to a net loss of $10.6 million in the first quarter of 2009. Earnings per fully-diluted ADS was $0.71.

 


What They Do: Trina Solar Limited is a well recognized manufacturer of high quality modules and has a long history as a solar PV pioneer since it was founded in 1997 as a system installation company.

 

Gen-Probe Incorporated (Nasdaq: GPRO) $38.51. Announced after market close Monday that the Company has begun a clinical trial intended to secure U.S. regulatory approval of its APTIMA(®) assay for Trichomonas vaginalis on the fully automated TIGRIS(®) system.

 

What They Do: Gen-Probe Incorporated is a global leader in the development, manufacture and marketing of rapid, accurate and cost-effective nucleic acid tests (NATs) that are used primarily to diagnose human diseases and screen donated human blood.
