WalMart Stores Inc. WMT low cost Prescription drug Program now available in 22 States and Washington D.C.

Walmart said that it will offer a 90-day supply of generic prescriptions, each for $10, via free mail delivery as part of what the retailer is calling an affordable pharmacy program. The company’s effort to expand access to lowered prescription costs comes as members of the U.S. Congress consider several controversial bills to reform the nation’s health care system.

The company decided to look for other ways to expand that access to affordable prescriptions.In addition to the 300 generic prescriptions at the $10 price, the company’s mail delivery service provides access to more than 3,000 other brand and generic prescriptions with free mail delivery.To participate, Wisconsin residents can call 1-800-2REFILL. The company said that the free mail delivery program “has no gimmicks, no memberships and no enrollment fees.”
