The revenue value of this agreement will be $2 million for the company over the 15-year term. Owned and operated by America DG Energy, the 100kW CHP system is now producing energy in the form of electricity, space heat and domestic hot water. DoubleTree chose the company’s onsite utility solution and will avoid all capital, installation and operating costs – only paying for the energy used.
CHP systems offer a cleaner energy option with substantial environmental benefits, as comparedwith electricity purchased from the grid. CHP systems capture and utilize heat that would otherwise be wasted from the production of electricity –producing the same amount of energy while requiring less fuel. According to the EPA CHP Partnership emissions calculator, by utilizing a CHP system DoubleTree will reduce its carbon emissions by around 403 tons annually, or the equivalent of planting 75 acres of forest each year.

The hotel can nowadd“contribution to the quality of the environment”to its list of features, as it is now reducing carbon emissionsby operating an onsite utility.
